For Insider Readers Only - Summer 2026

You Already Live Where They Vacation. Time to Go Higher.

The Bow Valley Insider Adventure Club is where we take our readers on guided trips into the terrain the tour buses never reach. Small groups, certified guides, and the kind of experiences that turn into your favourite local stories.

An escape hatch from the crush.

For a few years now we've told you what's happening in the valley three mornings a week. The Adventure Club is us finally taking you into it - a short, curated run of guided trips, open only to Insider readers, built on one stubborn idea: you don't need to drive to a bucket-list destination when you already live in one.

You just need someone to rope you in. Literally, on a couple of these. Every trip is run with certified mountain guides, kept to small groups, and pointed at the stuff most visitors never see - vertical rock in Nordegg, a working glacier on the Icefield. No choreographed shuttle line. No 6 a.m. scramble for a Moraine Lake photo. Just your backyard, the good parts.

Readers first, always

  • These trips live in our digital publication and nowhere else. If you get our emails, you’re in the room. No public listings, no tour-desk markup.

Small groups, real guides

  • Certified guides and a 6:1 ratio ceiling on all our trips. You get full support and eyes on you, not a crowd to keep up with.

Skills you keep

  • Learn to move on rock, travel a glacier, and read backcountry hazards to make the call yourself. You leave with the ability, not just a photo.

Off the tourist track

  • You get to see terrain locals talk about but rarely get a proper reason to visit. Not the parking-lot circus.

The Summer 2026 Lineup

Pics from our 2025 Via Ferrata experience in Nordegg

1. Via Ferrata - Beginner

August 15 (Full Day)

Your first taste of vertical. “From Nordegg with Love” mixes hiking, scrambline and secure cable-and-ladder climbing. No experience needed.

2. Via Ferrata - Advanced

September 11-14 (3 Days on Ice)

“The Fox” - sustained, vertical, and a proper step up. Built for people with prior experience in via ferrata or climbing.

3. Columbia Icefields Glacier Experience

Real glacier travel and mountaineering fundamentals, run from a frontcountry basecamp - car camping, no heavy packs. Rope systems, crampon work, crevasse awarness, an optional summit.
