Skiers Capture Exceptionally Rare Lynx Sighting at Lake Louise

The one minute encounter left skiers stunned and wildlife watchers calling it the sighting of a decade

Most things on Reddit are a time sink, but not this week.

A skier at Lake Louise shared a video of a lynx and her kit standing calmly in the middle of a run, a sight so unusual that people initially questioned whether the footage was AI.

It was real and captured from a respectful distance, with skiers giving the animals plenty of room before they slipped back into the trees.

Lynx sightings in the Bow Valley are exceptionally rare, which is why the post quickly took off in r/skiing.

Commenters called the moment “magical” and “a once in twenty five years sighting,” with several users sharing their own stories of brief lynx encounters at Louise.
