Rockslide Closes Highway 93 at Sinclair Canyon, Cutting Off Access to Radium Hot Springs Pools
No injuries reported as crews work to stabilize the slope and reopen the key park corridor by Thursday afternoon

A rockslide in Sinclair Canyon has forced Parks Canada to close Highway 93 South through Kootenay National Park, cutting off vehicle access between the Village of Radium Hot Springs and the Radium Hot Springs pools.
The closure, announced Wednesday, is expected to remain in place until Thursday afternoon, Feb. 19, while contractors stabilize the slope and clear debris from the roadway. No injuries have been reported.
Traffic is being rerouted through Yoho National Park toward Golden, B.C., adding travel time for motorists moving between the Columbia Valley and the Bow Valley.
The Radium Hot Springs pools facility will remain closed until the highway reopens, according to the agency.

Drivers are advised to check DriveBC and Alberta 511 for the latest updates before travelling. Officials have not indicated whether additional stabilization work could extend beyond the current timeline.
Rockfall is a known hazard in the canyon, where steep limestone walls rise sharply above the roadway.
