Road Rage Confrontation Involving Pickup Truck, Motorcycles Under Investigation in Canmore
Video circulating online appears to show fight escalating at busy Canmore intersection; RCMP say incident is highly unusual for community
A road rage confrontation involving the occupants of a pickup truck and two motorcycles in Canmore is under investigation after video of the incident circulated widely online, originally in the Canmore subreddit.
Canmore RCMP said officers were called at about 2:14 p.m. on May 3 to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Bow Valley Trail and Railway Avenue involving people fighting.
“Police attended and determined that there had been conflict arising out of one side’s concern over the other side’s driving,” said RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Tulloch.
Video circulating online appears to show several people arguing beside a blue pickup truck and two motorcycles stopped at the intersection before the confrontation becomes physical. The footage then shows the pickup truck rolling forward into the motorcycles after the driver exits the vehicle.

RCMP said the confrontation evolved from verbal to physical and led to the collision between the truck and motorcycles after the driver exited the truck before it was put in park. Police said the people involved had left the area by the time officers arrived, though investigators later identified all parties involved.
“All parties have been identified and the investigation is still underway,” Tulloch said.
Tulloch said incidents of this nature are extremely uncommon in Canmore.
“I would say that something of this nature is almost non-existent in Canmore,” he said. “Anecdotally, I can’t think of another similar situation here.”
RCMP have not laid charges or publicly identified the individuals involved.
