Police Seek Information After Attempted Kidnapping in Banff
Masked suspects allegedly tried to force a 44-year old man into a vehicle near the Banff Christmas Market before fleeing

Police are asking for the public’s help after an attempted kidnapping in Banff earlier this month, an incident authorities say involved multiple masked suspects and unfolded in a busy public area.
According to investigators, a family of four was leaving the Banff Christmas Market near 327 Railway Ave. around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, when several masked individuals approached them in a parking area. The suspects attempted to force a 44-year-old man into a vehicle, but the effort was unsuccessful. The suspects then fled the scene in a dark-coloured sedan and a truck.
The victim reported the incident to the Calgary Police Service after returning to Calgary. Because the incident occurred in Banff, police are also working with the Banff RCMP.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have photos, video, or other relevant information, to contact police. Tips can be submitted by calling Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or Banff RCMP at 403-763-6600. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at calgarycrimestoppers.org.
