Moraine Lake Shuttle Reservations: Step-by-Step Guide (With Video)

Parks Canada will open the first 40% of its 2026 reservations for the Moraine Lake and Lake Louise shuttle at 8 a.m. MT on Wednesday, April 15, through an online booking system.

Moraine Lake remains one of the most tightly managed destinations in Banff National Park. Private vehicles are not allowed on Moraine Lake Road, and visitors must use the Parks Canada shuttle, Roam Transit’s reservable Super Pass connection, a commercial operator, or arrive by bike.

How to Book the Moraine Lake and Lake Louise Shuttle Through Parks Canada

Step 1: Create a Parks Canada reservation account.

Parks Canada advises users to create or update their reservation account in advance, particularly if they have not booked since March 2023, and to be prepared before reservations open as launch days are typically high demand.

Step 2: Select the shuttle option and search availability

Select “Shuttle to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.” In the “Park” field, choose Banff–Lake Louise, then enter your date and the number of people in your party before clicking “Search.” Shuttle service to Moraine Lake begins June 1, while service to Lake Louise starts May 15, so bookings will not be available before those dates.

Step 3: Choose your primary destination and departure time.

When making a reservation, select “Shuttle” in the map view, then choose a departure window and a primary destination, either Moraine Lake or Lake Louise. The booking also includes access to the Lake Connector shuttle at no additional cost, allowing visitors to travel between the two lakes on the same day.

Step 4: Reserve and complete your booking

When you find a time that works, select “reserve” and follow the prompts to complete your booking.

For regular daytime service, shuttle riders check in at the Lake Louise Park and Ride at the ski resort, where parking is free for reservation holders. Shuttles run about every 30 minutes from early morning to early evening, with final return service around 7:30 p.m.

Parks Canada also offers a limited “Alpine Start” shuttle with early morning departures for visitors seeking sunrise access to Moraine Lake. The service departs from the Lake Louise lakeshore parking lot, where paid parking applies, and reservations must be made by 5 p.m. the day before departure.

Parks Canada says these tickets are in high demand and can disappear quickly. In 2024, reservations in the rolling 48-hour release window often sold out within minutes of becoming available.

For those who miss next week’s main launch, there is still a second chance. Parks Canada says 60% of seats will be released at 8 a.m. two days before departure throughout the season. But for visitors with fixed travel plans, Wednesday morning’s reservation opening offers the best chance to secure a specific date.
