First Look: KFC Opens in Canmore
And the Machines Are Ready to Feed You

KFC is now open at the corner of Railway Ave and Bow Valley Trail.
I dropped by on the second day of being open to check it out. Totally unplanned, I also ran into the owner, and got a few behind-the-scenes insights.

Multiple entrances, but this one’s off Railway Ave.

Nice booth seating area right up front.

And another set of booths just beyond that.

The décor? Very Canadian. Probably intentional, given the current mood around international companies. Just a reminder: even if the franchise isn’t “local,” the owner and staff are.

Inclusive washrooms.

Things get pretty high-tech here. You can still order at the counter, but you’re encouraged to use the express machines (there are three of them). Just tap in your order...

...and pick it up at the counter. I was there during a packed lunch hour and the speed from order to pickup was shockingly fast. Big fan of having multiple screens, too. Keeps things moving.

Plenty of seating...

...with bright windows and a clean, modern vibe throughout.

Here’s what the ordering screens look like. For now, it's dine-in only. No delivery via DoorDash or SkipTheDishes just yet. But that’ll likely change very soon.

Some of the Tuesday specials. Under $5 for two pieces of chicken and fries? Not bad.

And here’s a look at the family-sized deals.

Half the parking lot is under construction at the moment, but the other half (shared with Circle K and Anytime Fitness) is open and available.

Quick note about the owner: He also owns the Opa in the same strip mall. Super friendly guy. He said the biggest challenge right now is hiring (same story at both spots). But early days seem to be running smoothly with a solid crew in place.
