Kananaskis Waterfall Takes Centre Stage in Netflix's 'My Life with the Walter Boys'

When audiences around the world pressed play on the third season of My Life with the Walter Boys this week, they may have thought they were looking at rural Colorado.

They were actually looking at Kananaskis.

Sheep River Falls, one of southern Kananaskis' best-known waterfalls, features prominently in the opening episode of the hit Netflix series. The location serves as the backdrop for a pivotal scene between Jackie Howard, a New York teenager rebuilding her life after a family tragedy, and Cole Walter, one of the brothers she grows close to after moving in with the Walter family. Framed by towering peaks, rushing water and dense forest, the waterfall provides the setting for one of the season's most emotional and romantic moments.

As with many of Netflix's Alberta productions, the location has also been added to Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, the streaming service's interactive map that lets fans visit the real-world locations behind their favourite shows and films.

The latest update, released alongside the Season 3 premiere, also adds filming locations in Millarville, High River and Calgary, giving fans another reason to explore Alberta's growing on-screen footprint.

Although the series is set in Colorado, much of the series has been filmed in southern Alberta, where ranches, mountain valleys and small towns have doubled as the fictional community of Silver Falls.

For locals, spotting familiar landscapes has become part of the fun. The latest season continues that tradition, with a growing list of recognizable Bow Valley and Foothills locations that have appeared on screen.
