Guy Does Cold Plunge in Canada’s Most Famous Lake—While It’s Still Frozen

Kendal Keating cold plunge in Lake Louise

Kendal Keating, an underwater welder, entrepreneur, and commercial diver, recently shared a video on Instagram capturing his cold plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Louise.

Known for its stunning turquoise hue, Lake Louise is a glacial lake in Alberta, Canada, where water temperatures rarely rise above 4°C (39°F) even in summer.

Keating, co-founder of Calore Cold Plunge—a company specializing in cold plunge tubs—captioned his video: "It’s no Calore Cold Plunge, but it will do for today.”

Swimming in Lake Louise is legally permitted but not commonly practiced due to its consistently low temperatures.

The lake's cold waters can lead to cold shock and hypothermia within minutes, posing significant risks to swimmers.

There are no lifeguards or designated swimming areas, so individuals enter at their own risk.

Is It Safe To Do a Cold Plunge Like This?

For the average person? Not really.

Cold shock can kick in within seconds, and without proper experience, training, or supervision, it’s dangerous.

Keating’s background as an underwater welder and commercial diver likely makes him way more comfortable in those conditions than most.
