Four Charged After Bow Valley Drug Investigation Nets $490K Seizure
RCMP say investigation between Calgary and the Bow Valley resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, counterfeit opioid pills and a prohibited firearm

Two Canmore residents are among four people charged after an RCMP drug trafficking investigation between Calgary and the Bow Valley led to the seizure of around $490,000 worth of drugs, counterfeit opioid pills and a prohibited firearm.
Police said the investigation resulted in the seizure of 1,186 grams of suspected fentanyl, 915 grams of suspected cocaine, 2,895 suspected counterfeit opioid pills, seven grams of suspected methamphetamine, a semi-automatic rifle and two prohibited magazines containing 30 rounds each.
RCMP said the investigation began in March 2026 after officers identified a person suspected of trafficking drugs between Calgary and Canmore.
"Through continued investigation, Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit confirmed that the suspect was actively involved in drug trafficking within the Bow Valley," RCMP said in a news release.
Police allege the suspect was obtaining large quantities of drugs in Calgary and using a vehicle to transport them. RCMP said investigators believed the suspect was picking up wholesale quantities of drugs in Calgary before bringing them into the Bow Valley for distribution. On March 13, investigators stopped a vehicle associated with the suspect and seized 1,097 grams of fentanyl.
On May 14, members of the Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, assisted by Canmore RCMP, executed a search warrant in Canmore. Police said they seized approximately 1.6 kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine, along with 2,000 counterfeit Xanax tablets, which RCMP said are commonly composed of synthetic opioids stronger than fentanyl.

Canmore residents Mackenzie Harbar, 30, and Katie Ervin, 31, were arrested and each charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. Harbar faces an additional 10 charges of failing to comply with conditions. Both are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on June 16. Harbar was ordered held in custody pending his next court appearance, while Ervin was released on conditions.
RCMP said evidence obtained during the Canmore search warrant led to a second investigation involving two homes in Calgary allegedly connected to drug trafficking. On May 27, Cochrane RCMP officers, assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team and members of the Calgary Police Service Gun Violence Enforcement Team, executed search warrants at the Calgary homes.
Police seized an additional half-kilogram of cocaine and fentanyl, more than 1,100 synthetic opioid tablets and a prohibited firearm. RCMP said the firearm was a prohibited semi-automatic rifle.
Two people were arrested. Aaron Cahoon, 30, of Calgary, was charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, while Jordan Nyiro, 31, of Calgary, was charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking fentanyl and several firearms offences, including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon. Both men were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on June 5.
In a statement, Cochrane RCMP said fentanyl and other synthetic opioids continue to pose a significant risk to communities and that the quantities seized in the investigation had the potential to contribute to fatal overdoses. Police said the investigation disrupted an alleged drug trafficking operation that was transporting drugs from Calgary into the Bow Valley.
