The Best Pizza Spots in Banff: Ranked
I’m a Chef & Have Tried Them All
If there’s one thing I know, it’s pizza.
I spent two years as a chef at one of Banff’s busiest pizza joints — tasting, testing, and obsessing over every slice. From perfectly blistered crusts to sauce ratios you don’t even realize you care about, I got a front-row seat to what makes a pizza truly great.
Whether you’re craving something fancy, something lowkey, or just something really good after a long hike, this is the only list you’ll need.
Pizzeria Sophia

Pizzeria Sophia just opened — and it’s already taking Banff by storm.
It’s a cozy spot with a killer selection of pizzas, and if you’re after a classic thin crust done right, this is your place. They cook their pies hot and fast, turning out crispy, leopard-spotted crusts that still have the perfect bit of chew — the way a true Neapolitan should be.
It’s a great pick for a casual dinner or a low-key date night, made even better by their solid daily happy hour. Bonus: the pizzas come unsliced, and you’re handed a big pair of golden scissors to do the honors yourself. (Trust me, it’s more fun than it sounds.)
Takeout’s available, but they don’t deliver.
Location: 202 Caribou Street
Menu: Pizzeria Sophia
Average Pizza Price: $25 (12”)
My Go-To: ‘Nduja — $26
Other Favorites: Loaded Torpedo — $19
Chef’s Note: Go show the new kid some love — you might just find your new favorite pizza spot.
Aardvarks

Aardvarks is a Banff institution, slinging pizza since 1990.
Let’s be real: you won’t catch me here in the middle of the day. But when the bars start kicking people out, Aardvarks shines like a beacon — luring hungry bar-hoppers with the promise of a hot slice.
This isn’t the best pizza in Banff, not even close. But after a few pints? There’s nothing better than a pepperoni slice from Aardvarks. It’s the ultimate late-night pit stop, where you’ll bump into old friends, meet a few characters, and find yourself at a makeshift afterparty packed into a tiny takeaway shop.
Takeout and delivery are available.
Location: 304a Caribou Street
Menu: Aardvarks
Average Pizza Price: $23 (12”)
Average Slice Price: $5.50
My Go-To: Canadian (full pizza) — $22.98; Pepperoni (slice) — $5.50
Other Favorites: Poutine — $10.95
Chef’s Note: A night out in Banff isn’t complete without a stop at Aardvarks — if not for the pizza, at least to keep the party alive a little longer.
Lupo

If you’re after a more upscale pizza experience, get yourself to Lupo.
It’s not strictly a pizza joint — it’s a chef-driven Italian restaurant that just happens to serve some of the best pies in town. The space is stunning, refined without feeling stiff, and perfect for slowing down over a glass of wine and seriously good food.
They don’t have a huge pizza menu, but what’s there is done right. A pizza place is only as good as its Margherita, and theirs is excellent.
Takeout’s available, but they don’t deliver.
Location: 208 Wolf Street
Menu: Lupo
Average Pizza Price: $22.50 (12”)
My Go-To: Margherita — $24
Other Favorites: Mafaldine al Limone — $27
Chef’s Note: No mess, no fuss — just great pizza in a gorgeous, Italian market-style room.
Carlitos

Sometimes, the best pizza experience is the one you have curled up on the couch, TV on, nowhere to be.
If that’s the vibe you’re after, Carlitos has you covered. They offer solid pizza with free delivery — no need to brave the cold or put on real pants.
Their crust leans thicker compared to a Neapolitan, but it’s still nicely done and hits the spot. You can dine in if you want, but it’s more of a basic hotel restaurant setup — nothing like the cozy charm of Lupo or Sofia.
If you’re planning a movie night, a game night, or just don’t feel like cooking, Carlitos is a reliable go-to that won’t let you down.
Dine-in, takeout, and delivery available.
Location: 501 Banff Ave
Menu: Carlitos
Average Pizza Price: $24 (12”)
My Go-To: 4 Cheese — $22.95
Other Favorites: Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings — $19.25
Chef’s Note: Perfect for those nights when you just want to stay in, kick back, and crush some good pizza.
Honorable Mentions
Bear Street Tavern: A great pizza spot in its own right, made even better with gluten-free crust options and vegan dairy and meat substitutes.
Banff Ave Brewing Co: Want to stray from the Neapolitan scene? Head to Banff Ave Brewing for a deep dish fix instead.
Three Bears: Consistently great fire-oven pizza — a true local’s favourite. Their patio is a gem year-round, if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat.
