Ice Climbing Adventure with Bow Valley Insider

A One-Day, Beginner Ice Climbing Experience
Saturday, January 31
Curious about ice climbing but not ready to commit to a full weekend or a steep learning curve? This one-day ice climbing adventure is designed for beginners who want a safe, supportive introduction to the sport, without complicated logistics.
We’re keeping it simple: drive out for the day, climb real ice with a certified guide, and head home that evening. No accommodations required.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll spend the day learning the fundamentals of ice climbing, including movement, tool placement, footwork, and basic safety systems. Expect hands-on instruction and plenty of time actually climbing, not standing around.
The planned venue is King’s Creek in Kananaskis, a reliable area with multiple ice lines well suited for beginner instruction. Final location will be confirmed closer to the date based on conditions, with backup options ready if needed.
Who This Is For
Complete beginners with no ice climbing experience
People with some rock or gym climbing background who want to try ice
Anyone looking to learn a new winter skill in a controlled, supportive setting

The day will be led by Braeden from Leviathan Mountain Guides, who will guide the group through the basics and manage all technical systems. Instruction is paced, practical, and focused on keeping everyone safe and moving confidently.
