Where To Find The Best Coffee In Canmore For Early Morning Adventures

One of the things Canmore has an abundance of is amazing coffee spots. Whether you drink coffee for fuel or flavour, there is something for everyone here in Canmore.

1. Beamers - Best For Early Risers

Beamers

For the early risers, there is no better place than Beamers.

This long-established local's favorite opens its doors at 6am, meaning you can have a hot cup of coffee in your hands before the majority of people in town are even out of bed.

From their six self-serve carafes of brewed coffee with different profiles on offer, to a specialty coffee menu featuring the classics such as lattes and cappuccinos, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

If you find yourself at Beamers hungry for breakfast or lunch, they also have an amazing grab + go counter stocked with an abundance of sweet and savory items, as well as a sandwich and salad menu with deli classics everyone knows and loves.

Vegetarians and vegans are also well looked after, with a selection of grab + go and menu items to choose from.

Boasting two locations in Canmore, getting to Beamers couldn't be easier. Their downtown shop is ideal for those of you in the hustle and bustle of central Canmore, whilst their Shops of Canmore location makes it an accessible spot to pop in before hitting the road, with ample parking just outside the door and Highway 1 second away.

If you’re in need of a quiet office space, Beamers has you covered there, too. Available to book online for free, this space is ideal for business meetings and acts as a quiet place to get some work done.

Opening hours at the Shops of Canmore are 6 AM - 5 PM every day, whilst the downtown store operates between 6:30 AM - 4 PM Monday to Thursday, closing at 5 PM Friday to Sunday.

My go-to order at Beamers always includes the BST sandwich and a drip coffee. The drip coffee is especially great as they rotate the flavours through the year and include special holiday flavours during periods like Christmas, so you can try something new every time you visit.

 2. Eclipse Coffee Roasters - Best For Quality Coffee

Eclipse Coffee Roasters

Established in 2014, Eclipse Coffee Roasters quickly became a beacon for quality coffee in Canmore.

The dedication to their craft is evident from the first sip, and it's no surprise that Eclipse has won several awards for coffee roasting across North America. If you’re looking for a coffee experience that goes above and beyond, look no further than Eclipse.

Understanding that everyone has their personal preference when it comes to coffee, Eclipse has a rotation of at least 10 beans on offer, varying from light to dark roast, each with its own unique flavor profile.

Having a good product is only the beginning, though. Eclipse prides itself on being able to give expert customer service to anyone wanting to find their perfect cup of coffee, from what bean to use, and the brewing method that gets the best out of the bean.

Their standard coffee menu is complimented with harder-to-find drinks like the cortado, or my personal favorite, the pour-over.

Roasting their coffee on-site allows Eclipse to serve the freshest coffee possible, and means they can roast every last bean to their exact liking, which explains why locals and tourists alike find themselves coming back for more.

If, like me, you enjoy brewing coffee at home, Eclipse serves as a one-stop shop for any coffee equipment you may need for a home setup. Think kettles, scales, grinders, and a range of different brewing units like the Chemex or AeroPress. All that is left is to pick up a bag of your favorite Eclipse beans and you’re well on your way to drinking award-winning coffee in the comfort of your own home.

With four locations to choose from, Eclipse has you covered wherever you find yourself in Canmore.

Railway Avenue is bookended with its main location on the north side, a large two story building fitted out with its roasting room for all to see, and its Elevation Place location on the south side, convenient for anyone needing fuel before hitting the gym or climbing wall.

A central location on 8th Street is perfect whilst you’re downtown, and the newly opened Dead Man’s Flats shop is sure to become a community hub for those in the area. Opening times vary between locations; all the information you need can be found on their website.

My go-to order at Eclipse is a pour-over, opting for whatever bean the barista recommends. Sipped slowly, you can start to see that Eclipse are leaders in their field.

3. Uprising Craft Bakery - Best For Baked Goodies

Uprising Craft Bakery

With 20 years of baking experience under his belt, the founder of Uprising Craft Bakery has quickly created the go to place for anything and everything pastry and bread.

100% of their products are made from scratch, and nothing short of perfect is allowed to hit the shelves or menus at their downtown Canmore location.

The quality doesn’t stop with their food, though. Alongside a perfectly curated breakfast menu and pastry cabinet, Uprising has carved itself a place in Canmore’s coffee elite.

A European influence runs throughout Uprising, paying homage to Patrik's upbringing in Czechia and time spent living in Copenhagen, both places well-versed in knowing a thing or two about coffee.

This exposure to great coffee means that although the food comes first, the coffee is not left behind.

Speaking of food, the breakfast menu screams modernity, leaving you hard-pressed to find anything better in town. Items such as avocado toast or chocolate chip banana pancakes are best washed down with a great cup of coffee, making Uprising the obvious choice if you find yourself in Canmore needing breakfast.

Bread can be bought by the loaf, which, when paired with your coffee equipment bought at Eclipse, means you’re all set for the perfect breakfast at home.

Although they only have one location in Canmore, a sister store in Banff means you can find that same quality coffee on your day trips into the national park or on your way for a day skiing or snowboarding.

For me, the Canmore location is the spot of choice if I want to sit and relax with a coffee and book. Both locations open conveniently early and spill into the early evening most days, meaning you can sample their coffee in espresso martini form paired with a pizza or calzone.

My go-to order at Uprising is a flat white, and if I’m in the mood for food, the house-made croissant with butter and jam. A match made in heaven.
